The Department of Physics was started in the year 1983. The B. Sc Physics course was started in 2001. It was upgraded to postgraduate level in 2004. The department is blessed with a band of eminent and committed teachers. At present, eight teaching staff and three technical staff are working in the department. Department has a higher education progression rate and very good result almost every year. The department has well infrastructure facilities. We maintain separate laboratories for UG and PG classes. National Seminar entitled “Spectrum”, Workshops, Career Guidance programmes, invited talks and Quiz Competitions open to students in different departments of the college and also to students from outside the campus are highlights of this department. Department runs OSA (Optical Society of America) Student chapter in the campus to motivate the students into research. Along with curricular activities, the Department also promotes co-curricular activities which has resulted in the Department bagging overall championship in Fine arts day competitions for the past few years and remarkable prizes in sports day competitions. The Department also encourages its students to be a part of social service clubs and forums of the college like NSS, Pain and Palliative care, Nature club etc.
